Description

A piece painted for a fantasy fiction about vimpires as cover art. My last piece "A girl in Armour" has been aquired by them to be used as the cover for the first book of this fiction. This is for the second one.

The character is supposed to be male. However, the publisher passed me a bunch of pictures of almost girly looking boys with goth style heavy make-uk to the extreme from the author as she wants me to use them for ref, while telling me to think a way to get around it to make it look more "normal" for marketing purpose. I was at my wit's end, and these the best I could come up with, to paint him like a girl :/

the actual wrok was done in such a hurry, that I didn't really give it a good finish. The publisher all of a suddent informed me about the deadline a day before it, because they "accidentally" forgot an upcoming long-weekend sort of holiday and have to submit all works for print before it started.

Priceless. This is the best I could do in that time frame, giving that I have a full time day job to attend.

Painted entirely in photoshop.

Excellent job on her expression and flow of hair as she gazes towards wings. Wings are done quite well as they poked through her jacket and jutting off frame, some variation in their color could make feathers more visable and lessen some slight flatness in shadowed areas. An interesting pose that draws you in, then guides you to the building off in the distance. Good job.

Awesome! Saw this on DA! I like the pallet you chose to go with. Nice blur effect in the fore and background.

Nice piece:)

I think the wings are a bit too blurry and could have gotten a bit more details
The jacket (and folds) are a bit too 'blocky' for my taste

The overall composition is strong and I love how you did the hair and the face
Great background too which complements the image

+ 9

I love his hair & face, and how he's looking over his shoulder. Those ruins look really neat, too, and the composition is very nice. :)

Thanks all for the nice comments and constructive suggestions :)

I made some changes during the weekend, refining the facial feature, adding some hightlight to the hair, and more details to the feathers of the wings. Hope this improves the image a bit further.
